I was on here and there was only 30 guests and 5 on line and the site is still slow. I wonder if it is the Fireboard like the guy said?

I have no idea how this web site stuff works.

I have read where they did mention about the Fireboard. But like I said, I really don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. Hopefully they will find out what is going on and get it fixed.

It worked fine for a couple of days, and then it got real slow again.

I am sure they will find out what is going on soon. We will just have to wait till it gets fixed.

At the risk of offending poor (or just lazy) spellers:

"There" denotes location (i.e., "here" or "there") whereas "their" is the possessive plural. "There website" makes no sense; it should be "their website".

Another common chatroom goof is the use of "to" when one means to write "too" (also). When I say, "this bothers me, too" I'm making sense; when I say "it bothers me to"...I haven't finished my thought. (It bothers me to what?)

One says "I am going to the store", not "I am going too the store".

OK, just one more. One does not say "I just felt lead to say something". If you felt lead, you've probably been shot. But you might felt led to do something or the other.

There you go; I felt led to offer these three chatroom grammar/spelling lessons...in one little post, too! Those who gladly accept constructive criticism will find their grammar improved; those who are thin-skinned will just add another negative 'karma' mark to my profile (doesn't bother me a whit).

We should seek to improve the intelligibility of our online public discourse, especially on sites where we hope to engage in serious political and ethical issues.

For many years my mother almost yelled at me for using the word "Aint" stating that is was not a word.

Somewhere in the early 80's "Aint" was officially added as a word to the American Lexicon.

If you pay attention to movies from pre-60's there are plenty of times the people on screen make statements that they are gay. Books have paragraphs that state so and so is gay. Back in the 50's and earlier Gay meant happy.

Somewhere along in the 60's Gay became defined as Homosexual usually a male designation. Recently Gay or Ghey have been redefined as also meaning stupid or idiotic.

The American Language is a living breathing entity that changes over time and will continue to change.

You can continue to be Pendantic if you wish and continue to point out "there" mistakes but remember todays mistakes could be tomorrows words and definitions.

you know dmzuniga you are not our teacher, we are not here for lessons. We have the right to write and say what ever we want. This is not your web site I am sure if we did or say something to offend them I am sure they would let us know and kick us off of here. So for your spelling lessons and grammar lessons keep them to your self. You are not wanted here for that. We do not need your lectures. Get on with the important things like what we are talking about on the post. LEAVE US ALONE.
